Rivers Roll On

Conceived at the River House at the confluence of the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers in Dunnellon, Florida, then rolling on over the Apalachicola and out the St. John’s to the sea – this song is borne of rivers as source and symbol of life, our life, our Florida. We recorded it in the River Room in Dunnellon, watching out the window … as the rivers rolled on. The moring and evening sounds you hear were recorded on the spot where the cover photo was taken that morning. ACW: Guitar and vocals • Pete Price: Bass: • Ingrid Ellis: Silver flute • Ron Litschauer: Mandolin
There's a place I know
Where the river runs slow
Enough the fish can dream
And the dawn floats thru
Like a sweet old tune
Any heart can sing

Where the Rainbow meets the Withlakoochee
There's a house where friends may come
To rest their souls and celebrate their songs
And the rivers roll on
Rivers roll on

There's a place I know
There the moss hangs low
Enough to tease the earth
And the quiet's deep
As a wise man's sleep
Ready for re-birth

In the Apalachicola
There's a place of sacred calm
Where weary travelers lay their burdens down
And the rivers roll on
Rivers roll on

Father God and Mother Earth gave rivers
To teach us how life's done
Time will stop not for your care nor yearning
Nor for fear nor dreams undone

There's a place I know
Where the water flows
Round stones in its way
And if you listen well
It will tell you tales
Of hope and bravery

Where the ocean keeps on calling
To the waters of St. Johns
I rise and pray for strength to carry on
And the rivers roll on
Rivers roll on
